CNC milling is a cold metal working method that uses a high-speed rotating milling cutter to cut the workpiece (moving linearly) to form planes, grooves, or shaped surfaces. It can also be used for drilling, reaming, and other machining operations.

The machining motion consists of the main motion (milling cutter rotation) and the feed motion (workpiece linear movement). Common equipment includes horizontal milling machines, vertical milling machines, gantry milling machines, milling and boring machining centers, and CNC milling machines. CNC milling machines can handle complex shapes and features, spatial curved surface contours, and precision molds. Milling and boring machining centers achieve complex surface machining through three-axis or multi-axis linkage.

Five-axis machining technology is equipped with a CNC system and servo drive, supporting coordinated movement of linear and rotary axes. Ultra-high-speed milling can reach speeds of 116~140m/s and is suitable for carbon steel and low-alloy steel workpieces.
